Since the opening of the country in 2011 and the lifting of the EU sanctions, Germany has been maintaining vivid economic relations with Myanmar. There are several German companies that are operating successfully in Myanmar.
One of the key working areas of the German Embassy Yangon is to support bilateral trade relations. As a political companion, facilitator of (business) contacts and first point of contact , our aim is to enable German businesses to get access to Myanmar. To achieve this, the Embassy closely cooperates with the German Trade and Invest (GTAI) correspondent in Bangkok,the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Myanmar and the German-Myanmar Business Chamber(GMBC) that was founded in 2015.
Myanmar is a country rich in resources with a population of about 51.5 million at the interface between China, India and South East Asia. Myanmar has tremendous economic potential. It owns huge deposits of natural gas, lumbers, copper, gemstones and other natural resources and also has enormous water power reserves as well as large agricultural areas.
