Training Project of Restoration and Conservation of the Nan-hpaya Temple in Bagan

The German Foreign Office is funding a training project of Stone Restoration and Model Conservation of the Nan-Hpaya Temple in Bagan.

The Nan-hpaya temple is one of four stone monuments in Bagan. It shows precious decorations outside and inside. The temples in Bagan are highly endangered due to weathering and earthquakes.


Scientists from the Cologne Institute of Conservation Science will be investigating into sandstone properties, damages and influences, developing a conservation methodology and a conservation concept and of adapted and compatible conservation materials.
